YUKI IO
Yuki’s affinity for raw, tactile art is deeply rooted in her autistic perspective and a childhood spent wild in the Austrian Alps—stargazing and exploring aircraft engines in the hangar where her father worked. This early wonder still shapes her vision today.
Her journey led from studying MultiMediaArt in Salzburg to the Berlin film scene. This period included a guest semester at the Babelsberg Film University and the award-winning short film GreenRoom. She then worked as an Art Director for global brands like Adidas, WMF, and HiPP before transitioning into freelance design, photography, and illustration in 2009.
Eventually, her passion for the analogue brought her back to hands-on craftsmanship. In 2025, she founded her studio, creating space-art-inspired linocuts and screen prints in vibrant, luminous colors. In an era of flawless AI generation, Yuki infuses traditional printmaking with fresh, contemporary relevance.
THE STUDIO
The studio of Yuki Io is housed in a historic building dating back to 1770, with thick walls, plenty of character, and an atmosphere that invites slow, hands-on work.
It is here that Yuki shapes ideas by hand — from carved linocut blocks to layers of vibrant colour. At night, surrounded by the quiet of the Fichtelgebirge and far from light pollution, the artist sits on a large rock beneath the stars — a constant source of inspiration for this unique space art.
